Kirralie’s Campaign To Define Male, Female In Law

May 27, 2026

Christian women’s and children’s rights campaigner Kirralie Smith is building momentum for a national newspaper advertising campaign to Change The Law, declaring that Australian law must recognise biological sex.

It will be accompanied by a national petition that Australians can sign from wherever they are. It already has nearly 6,500 signatures.

Ms. Smith told Vision Radio: “The fact is that in 2013, Julia Gillard, the then Prime Minister and her government inserted into the Sex Discrimination Act, protections for people who identify as female or people who identify as male.”

“But there’s actually no definition and no protections for males or females.”

“So the Sex Discrimination Act in Australia has no protections for biological sex. I think that’s absolutely insane.”

GILLARD GOVERNMENT REMOVED PROTECTIONS FOR WOMEN FROM SEX DISCRIMINATION ACT

“The Sex Discrimination Act actually goes back to 1984,” Kirralie Smith explained.

“It was written for the protection of females in this country in particular.”

“It was a time when women were entering the workforce en masse. There was a lot going on, so the Act was designed to protect women.”

“But Julia Gillard, our first female Prime Minister, removed those protections basically by inserting these gender nonsense terms.”

“Ever since, we’ve had a lot of issues where particularly males who identify as female seem to have more protections than women in this country.”

“WE WANT TO PUT DEFINITIONS  OF MALE AND FEMALE INTO LAW.”

“We’re asking people to sign a petition to change the law, to put definitions of male and female into law, into legislation.”

“That’s so we can have protections for children, for women and for men right throughout the country in services, different spaces, sport, you name it.”

“We want Australians to sign this petition because numbers matter to politicians.”

“They won’t move, they won’t do anything unless they feel like the voters will support them or come hard against them.”

THE ABSENCE OF DEFINITIONS OF SEX IS NEGATIVELY IMPACTING CHILDREN

“Because there are no definitions in law of male and female and because now we have same-sex marriage, it means that children are exposed to the lies and deception of gender ideology and there’s no lawful protection for our children,” Kirralie Smith lamented.

“Too many children are being lied to and told that they can change their sex, that they go on these medical programs, take drugs, undergo surgeries, even be removed from their own families to ‘change sex.’”

“We know that’s an empty promise.”

“It leaves them with far more issues than they began with because the underlying issues such as autism, trauma and depression are not addressed and they’re left with terrible consequences from irreversible drugs and procedures.”

“MANY COUNTRIES HAVE HALTED MEDICALISED CHILD GENDER TRANSITIONS, BUT NOT AUSTRALIA”

“The facts are that suicide rates increase after children are medicalised because they realise that they can’t in fact change sex and they haven’t addressed those underlying issues.”

“Many countries around the world have realised this.”

“They have stopped or paused the use of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones on children because suicide rates are increasing after children are exposed to these drugs.”

“Australia is one of the last places on earth that insists on giving children these drugs and not questioning or inquiring or doing studies into the harmful effects of these drugs.”

“Our politicians don’t want to know about it and our doctors are even penalised when they question it.”

“WE NEED TO RAISE AWARENESS THAT THIS IS AN IMPORTANT ISSUE”

“So we really need to raise awareness and show the politicians that this is an important issue to Australians,” the women’s rights campaigner declared.

“We’re doing that through online advertising and hopefully some viral campaigns where people are sharing our content.”

“We also want to put it in the national newspapers because that way politicians can’t ignore it, they can’t say they didn’t know about it and they have to respond.”

“It’s very important to keep the messaging very simple when you’re putting something in a newspaper advertisement, so it will simply be to change the law to enshrine definitions of male and female.”

CAMPAIGN MESSAGE WILL BE STRAIGHTFORWARD AND CLEAR

“It will look beautiful, it will be very straightforward and very clear,” Ms Smith expounded.

“There is a lot of online content that will support that advertisement and have a lot information, as well as a lot of email campaigns.”

“This is so people can be fully informed and go to their politicians and say, did you see this ad?”

“This is what it means and what are you going to do about it?”

CAMPAIGNER’S PERSONAL CHALLENGES FROM FIGHTING FOR BIOLOGICAL REALITY

Kirralie Smith has launched this campaign while still engaged in legal battles of her own over her fight for biological reality.

“I’ve been found guilty of vilification for speaking the truth.”

“I am still under a two-year apprehension of violence order.”

“I think that it’s terrible that I have had to go through court more than 10 times for three years now.”

“I take my job very seriously to advocate for biological reality whether it’s in parental rights, child safeguarding or women’s rights.”

“I MAKE NO APOLOGY”

“I’ve been ordered to pay $95,000 among a few other things in damages and so I’m appealing those decisions in the New South Wales Supreme Court in May because I really believe with all my heart that women and girls need to have some way to advocate for single sex spaces in this country.”

“For me to take information that was in the public domain about men in women’s sport, to reshare that and to lobby policymakers on this issue, I make no apology. I think it’s really important.”
