Uncomfortable Christianity

C.S. Lewis once said –

“As perhaps you know, I haven’t always been a Christian. I didn’t go to religion to make me happy. I always knew a bottle of Port would do that. If you want a religion to make you feel really comfortable, I certainly don’t recommend Christianity.”

2 Corinthians 5:14-15 NIV says

For Christ’s love compels us that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.

Q: When was the last time you reminded yourself of the mission we are here for?

Q: When people look at you, do they see the love of Christ that showed us mercy and grace?

Jesus didn’t come selling comfort, but offering truth; and truth when listened to & applied, is uncomfortable.

  • Truth tells me of the hurt and pain my neighbours may experience despite my relative ease
  • Truth tells me to break the illusion of my comfort to live more holy
  • Truth tells me of the way my Lord desires me to live despite my day-to-day experiences in the world
  • Truth tells me of the darkness and wickedness that exists in the depths of my heart

It may be uncomfortable but it’s necessary.  If we are bold enough to say… Uncomfortable Christianity should actually become our COMFORT ZONE.
