Social Media Introduction – Part 1

Social Media when done well, will not only just provide great content but it can also build engagement with the audience. Clarrine will help us understand and do that by providing us with a 2 Part Training on Social media, beginning with Part 1 this week, The Basics of Social Media.

Neil Johnson is Head of News and Current Affairs at Vision Christian Media. He’s personally done more than 10,000 interviews on the long-running talk-radio program 20Twenty.  Neil is an ordained Christian Minister with a 40-year media career in both commercial and Christian radio.  He has a Masters in Ministry (Leadership) and is the author of the book ‘Public Christians in a Secular Age’, about the value of Christian media and the pursuit of the ‘mission of God’.

In this training, Neil inspires us and teaches us some key things about preparing and delivering impactful and biblical interviews.

Security Hygiene

Jordan Albaladejo is the System Administrator for Vision Christian Media, he has extensive experience specifically in Internet Security but he also has a wealth of knowledge in all things technology.  Here he gives us some practical advice on protecting ourselves and having good online practices for both work and personal use.

Identifying your Audience

John Fabrin has gained a lot of experience in both hands-on radio broadcasting and station management. For over 12 years he served as CEO of Rhema Media – New Zealand’s premier Christian Media organisation. From their studio complex in Auckland Rhema operates three nationwide radio networks and a national television channel.  They also produce and distribute The Word for Today daily devotional in New Zealand.

Drawing from his wealth of knowledge and experience John shared with us the importance that we identify our audience and then, once we know who they are, we explore what their needs are.  From this important infomation we can shape our radio station to best meet our audience’s needs, and ultimately make our station more effective.

Media – A Power for Good

Media A Power For Good is a professional development training system for radio broadcasters that is world best practice, easy to implement and extremely cost effective.

“I recommend this series to anyone wanting to learn the fundamentals of broadcasting and communication. It is great content, clearly communicated by people who know their craft and at a very accessible cost… We’ll definitely be using it as a training tool and I’ll be encouraging others I know in media to do the same.”

– Phil Edwards, CEO – Vision Christian Media, Australia.

“Media 101’s training series is just what our sector needs! I have received independent feedback from commercial radio consultants and content directors stating that it is of a quality that they would use to induct even seasoned professionals.”

-Nathan Brown, CEO – Christian Media Australia

“Dedication to excellence, integrity in business, and passion for radio come together on the ‘Media-A Power of Good’ project. Using these training videos will set your station apart from all others.”

– Perry Atkinson, CEO ‘the Dove’ Radio & TV Medford Oregon, USA
