接受责备的才算明智。(箴言15:5)

有两种批评:一、不公正的批评。亨利·瓦尔特·贝彻(Henry Ward Beecher)牧师是一位位出色的演讲家。有一天,他去教会讲道。当他把《圣经》放在讲台时,发现有一张白纸,上面写着“笨蛋”。贝彻牧师富于幽默感,立刻抓住这个机会。他把那张纸举起来让所有会众都能看到,接着大声宣布,洪亮的声音响彻整个教堂:“我通常会收到匿名信,但这封信不同,这个人署名了,却忘了写信。”耶稣说:“引人犯罪的事是免不了的。”(路加福音17:1,这句话在某些版本直译为:冒犯你的事情是免不了的。——译者注)因此,你要做好准备。同时也要记得,攻击是尊重的表现。因为你重要,所以引人注目。下次当受到不公正的批评时,你不必理会,继续做你应该做的。耶稣就是这样。二、公正的批评。公正的批评包含一定的事实。阿拉伯古谚说:“如果有一个人把你叫做驴子,你不必理会;但如果有五个人都这么叫你,那就去买一个鞍吧。” 管理心理学家詹姆斯·克尔(James G. Kerr)博士指出,获取关于自身信息的最大障碍,是在于我们天生不情愿去发现任何对自身不利的事情。当我们针对自己的不足去设防,试图对人对己隐藏过错,就会失去自我认知的重要资源,同时也享受不到属灵成长的喜乐。停止躲避事实。我们每个人都能够改进当前所处理的事情及其方式。有人这么说:“世界上最大的空间,就是改进的空间。”
