教导孩童走正路。(箴言22:6)

“孩童走正路”的意思是:最适合孩子的独特性格、能力和上帝赐予的禀赋。完美主义妨碍这些特质,导致孩子只是为了获得认可,而成为他们违心的形象,。要帮助他们克服这个倾向,有以下几点建议:使孩子确信是因为他们本人,并非由于成就,使得他们在父母和上帝那里有价值。二、帮助他们明白,一个人要完成所有任务而万无一失是不可能的。训练他们把错误当作实践机会,认清个人价值,学习提高技巧、思考决策能力。三、跟他们分享你的错误和不明智的决定,讨论你的缺点以及如何胜过。四、向他们解释完美主义者视野狭隘,限制了解决问题的思路。阐明解决问题、筹划项目和完成任务的方法不止一种,并讨论其中的一些方法,扩大他们的认知,引介更有弹性的生活。五、夸赞他们的努力,不只是结果。表扬内容无涉成就,比如慷慨、诚实和善良的品格。六、减轻他们的压力。他们真的需要那些进深课程,或参与各项课外活动吗?完美主义令人难堪,因为“好事过头”了。它萌芽于幼龄孩童,成年之后更不会自动脱臼。有条不紊地帮助减少这个倾向能够提高孩子的生活质量。
