Praise the Lord.\u2019<\/i> (Psalm 150:6 ESV) That means as long as you are alive you are called to worship God. But some of us are more wired to be <i>worshippers<\/i> in a church setting, while others are more wired to be <i>workers.<\/i> While all of us are called to glorify God, some of us are more inclined to do it through works of devotion while others are more inclined to do it through lifting our voices in praise. Still others do it through study of His Word. And with God, all of them count as acts of service. <\/p>\n<p>The psalmist said, <i>\u2018Bless the Lord, all you servants of the Lord, who by night stand in the house of the Lord! Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord.\u2019<\/i> (Psalm 134:1\u20132 NKJV) Note the words <i>\u2018servants of the Lord\u2019.<\/i> How were they serving Him? Through <i>worship.<\/i> <\/p>\n<p>The Westminster Confession of Faith says, \u2018The chief end of man is that he might glorify God.\u2019 And there are many ways to do it: <i>\u2018Whoever offers praise glorifies Me.\u2019<\/i> (Psalm 50:23 NKJV) Worship acts like a thermostat; it creates a climate in which God\u2019s presence can be experienced and enjoyed. <\/p>\n<p>David said: <i>\u2018Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.\u2019<\/i> (Psalm 103:1\u20132 NKJV) What a benefits package! Forgiveness, healing, deliverance, and protection. How do we receive these benefits? Through worship. When we bless the Lord, He blesses us.
