The Impact of The Word for Today in Solomon Islands

The Impact of The Word for Today in Solomon Islands

The following Testimonies were sent to us from Coxwain showing the impact of The Word for today on people as they are encouraged to share it with family and friends…

This is a picture of Siria taken after a Church Service in Gizo this morning. She is a passionate and faithful advocator of TWFT. She used to send copies of the TWFT to his brother, a Church Minister in Kiribati. I explained to her again this morning that Kiribati has its own edition now, she does not have to send copies  to Kiribati anymore. She will start distributing some copies of TWFT tomorrow.

Then and Now the 2024 Cover for The Word for Today

Then and Now the 2024 Cover for The Word for Today

Grant Kennedy has amazing foresight when it comes to taking photos of people and scenery for future projects. Back in 2019 Grant was in Munda, Solomon Islands and a couple of the ladies were all dressed up with flowers for an event.  So, with their permission, Grant grabbed his camera, and this is the photo that he used for the 2024 edition of The Word for Today.

Fast forward to 2024, our friend Dennis in Munda, caught up with Liza and gave her a copy of The Word for Today featuring her picture on the cover – in the spot where he took the photo!

Connecting with people, Churches and Organisations is one of the great opportunities that we get with The Word for Today devotion, it allows people from all walks of life to connect with God. We received this encouraging testimony from Coxwain when he connected with a local Pastor…

Greetings!

This is an elderly pastor from Malango area in Guadalcanal whom I introduced UCBSI, it’s Vision, Mission & Strategy yesterday afternoon.
I took him to the studio to see for himself. He will introduce the Ministry, TWFT and Laef FM to his congregation this Sunday.

Kind regards,

God knows what we really need!

God knows what we really need!

This is a powerful testimony of a young woman that encountered God through The Word for Today, reminding us to be aware of how God may want to speak to us, either through His Word, through people, even through our situations.

GOD IS GOOD, ALL THE TIME, ALL THE TIME, GOD IS GOOD.
11 years ago, I lost my mother to an illness, and it took a few years after that struggling to accept it. Two years after her passing my father re-married, but my stepmom was(is) a loving, caring, kind and God-fearing woman, yet I could not fully accept her into my life. Up until last year I sought counselling and that helped me. I decided to put my foot down that it’s time to change my perspective of my stepmom.

As 2024 began, I told myself that this is the year to re-fresh and start all over again. Lo and behold on the 19th of January as I opened up the UCB Word for Today devotional booklet, what I read hit a spot in my life where I felt ministered to by God. He just read my mail! Bingo! It talked about blended family and how we children tend to be loyal to our previous parent and welcoming a new parent(step) may feel like an act of betrayal.

I looked up to heaven lol and said, “God you really know what I needed to hear and know how to get your message across to me today after all these years of struggling alone with this issue.” It has really opened my eyes and helped me in forming a better relationship with my stepmom. So thank you UCB for the booklet and the message you have for each day, as many a time the message for the day is really what I needed to hear from God in response to my prayers.
The Word for Today booklet has really impacted my life and helped me in my spiritual walk with the Lord.

Inspiration for you from…

Change your expectations

‘These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you.’ John 1 5:11 KJV

Why did Jesus say, ‘These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full’? Because if you let it, stress will drain you of joy and consign you to a life of depression, dullness, and discontent. Let’s face it, most of us are way too serious! We make a big deal out of everything. Being five minutes late, getting stuck in traffic, somebody giving us a wrong look, waiting in line, overcooking a meal, gaining a kilo, discovering a grey hair, making an honest mistake, you name it; we lose all perspective. The real problem is we have unrealistic expectations. That’s not how God wants you to live! If you want to experience the joy Jesus promised, do these two things:

1) Concede that your uptightness is mostly because of the way you have decided life should be.

2) Acknowledge that your expectations are causing you much of your frustration. When you keep expecting things to always be a certain way, and they’re not, you will always be upset.

Here is an idea: try approaching life today without all those expectations. For example, don’t expect everybody to be friendly, then when some are, you will be delighted. Don’t expect your day to be hassle-free; when trouble comes, look up and say, ‘Thank you, Lord, for another chance to grow.’ Go ahead, try it and see how much better things are. Rather than swimming against the tide, learn to flow with it. Pretty soon, you will find you’re enjoying life more! And not just that: other people will enjoy being around you more.
